1. Basic reference structure for Nature journals
Every Nature reference follows a consistent structure: authors (surname + initials, no full first names), article title in sentence case, journal abbreviation in italics, bold volume number, page range, and year in parentheses. No "pp." before pages, no "vol." before the volume — these prefixes are omitted in Nature style.

These are the errors that repeatedly cause rejection or revision requests when submitting to Nature-family journals:
- Using the full journal name instead of the abbreviation. Nature requires standard CASSI abbreviations — "Journal of the American Chemical Society" must become "J. Am. Chem. Soc." Submitting with the full name will be flagged in peer review.
- Missing volume or page numbers. Online-first papers without final page numbers should use the article number or DOI instead. Never leave the volume field blank.
- Wrong author name format. Nature requires surname first, then initials — "A. Kumar" not "Kumar A." or "Anil Kumar". Multiple initials without spaces: "A.B. Sharma" is wrong — it should be "A. B. Sharma".
- Using "and" instead of & before the final author. Nature uses the ampersand symbol, not the word "and".
- Alphabetical ordering. Nature references are numbered sequentially in order of first citation in the text — never alphabetical.
